i don't know what type of herpes i have. i was diagnosed by a doctor 30 years ago. this is how it went.you have herpeswhat can i take to get rid of itnothingwhat?you have it for life. anything else? how do i find out what type of herpes i have.
i only get outbreaks once in a while and they are very mild. maybe 10 in the last thirty years. i don't take anything in the way of medicine. i have been with virus free women and not worn a condom... i was told i was only infectious when i had a sore.... but non of them have gotten herpes... to my knowledge
The only reliable test that can also test for latent infection is a DNA PCR test. This test will even show partial virus dna shed from a latent infection. Even this isn't 100% as you typically shed hsv2 5 days per month and hsv1 only 1 day per month.

I would suggest you go to the doctors and do a blood-test. It was what I did to know which type.
